THOMAS MAYER

Performer, Theatre-Maker, Musican...

I like to play around with different mediums. Movement, sounds, images, music; I compile what comes out of me, and I try to tell stories.

In my explorations, I pay close attention to my working process.  For me, the studio is a space to play with failure and uncertainty, with time; where fragments of my daily experience can reconstitute, manifest and be seen in a new form. I am trying to find frames in these manifestations - to let what emerges dictate the rules of the game - finding those rules through repetition. I dive into the medium, follow the provocation and see the metaphors which surface.

A dilemma emerges: I want you to understand my fledgling voice, but am still discovering my own alphabet. I yearn to babble freely, and yet I itch for a concise grammar to communicate with.

Countless Lives is one of my stories, one long provocation followed; shadows, masks, projections, distortions, body, movement, sound.
